    The new Nitrokey App 2 will be the central management solution for all Nitrokey 3 devices in the future. It is designed to be modern and intuitive to use. Simply connect your Nitrokey 3 to the computer and the graphical interface will automatically detect the device and guide you through the firmware update process. The app is available for Windows and Linux and will also support macOS in a future release.

    Nitrokey 3 - Test Firmware Release

    The firmware releases formerly known as "alpha" are now called "test" releases to describe the character of the releases more precisely. This is firmware that contains functions that are not yet fully developed. The current release 1.3.1-test.20230417 contains the OpenPGP Card functionality and a still very experimental PIV card implementation.

    Nitrokey 3 - Firmware Release

    The latest firmware for the Nitrokey 3 in version 1.3.1 is now available. A central change is the file format which is used for the update of all Nitrokey 3.     Shipments of the Nitrokey 3C NFCs are in full swing. The targeted production volume goal has not yet been reached yet, but we are steadily working our way through pre-orders. The challenge is reliable soldering of the USB-C connector in the Nitrokey.

    We are happy to announce that a new firmware for the Nitrokey 3 is now available. The version 1.3RC1 is a release candidate and will not be delivered via the automatic update with pynitrokey. Since many things are changing with this version we decided to release a release candidate first to make sure there are no problems.

    Nitrokey 3 Status Update

    So far, we have produced and shipped a few hundred Nitrokey 3C NFC (i.e. the ones with the USB-C connector). However, production has not yet ramped up as we had originally planned. This is because there are still problems soldering the USB-C connector reliably. To fix this, we have already improved the production process in several iterations. We expect to be able to solve the problem in the next few weeks and then ramp up production.

    Nitrokey 3 Status Update

    We have received the first Nitrokey 3C NFC from the current production batch. We will start the delivery tomorrow. Production capacity is ramping up slower than expected, so it will probably take until the end of February to ship all pre-orders. After that, the Nitrokey 3C NFC will be available to order directly from our online store without waiting.
